Work life quality

We place a high value on ensuring you have the ability to balance your work and personal/family responsibilities. As part of our commitment to work life quality, we provide three months paid parental leave (after an initial qualifying period) and the option to take paid leave to care for family members who are ill. Staff may also apply for career breaks to undertake full time study, to travel or achieve other personal goals. The firm also supports involvement in voluntary work (eg emergency services) or in the Defence Reserve Forces.

Professional subscriptions

You will receive reimbursement for the cost of subscribing to relevant professional bodies and associations. Membership facilitates ongoing professional development and networking.

Gym benefit

We encourage a balanced and healthy lifestyle, providing generous subsidies for gym membership of your choice. The firm also sponsors a wide range of corporate sporting competitions - we can boast very strong participation in these events and have a history of successful, winning teams within the firm.

Social club

Our social club is very active in organising subsidised social events throughout the year from annual balls to networking and theme nights. The social club also negotiates member discounts with retailers, movie houses and dining and entertainment facilities.

Salary packaging

Staff can elect a number of different items as part of their total remuneration package including car parking, portable computer leasing or purchase, and cars for eligible staff.

Referral and placement program

We encourage the referral of potential recruits. Staff who make successful referrals receive generous cash bonuses. They are also eligible to win a weekend away to one of seven Australian cities with spending money.

Corporate health insurance

Affordable health insurance cover is available through two of the country's largest private health insurance providers.

Employee assistance program

Our staff and their immediate family members have access to a confidential referral and counselling service sponsored by the firm. The EAP is a 24 hour, 7 day-a-week service designed to assist staff resolve a wide range of personal or work-related problems.

Superannuation fund

This offers members investment choice, with options from faster growth/higher risk portfolios through to slower growth/lower risk investments.

Permanent disablement and life insurance

This is provided to all PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal Superannuation Fund members through a group life insurance policy at very competitive rates.

Temporary disability insurance

Provides income protection to full-time and certain part-time staff members in the event of long term illness or injury. Eligible staff members are entitled to an income benefit of 75% of their salary for the duration of their illness for up to two years subject to specified limits.

American Express card

We meet the cost of the both the membership joining fee and annual subscription for a Corporate American Express card.

Paid parental leave

Both male and female staff can be eligible for paid parental leave. To be eligible you must make a clear commitment to return to permanent employment at the conclusion of your period of approved parental leave and have completed specific service requirements outlined below:

  • Senior Associates and above - 12 months continuous permanent employment with the firm
  • Below Senior Associate level - 36 months continuous permanent employment with the firm
Please note the length of service conditions for eligibility do not apply when staff are applying for Short Paternity and Short Adoption Leave.

Conditions

There must be a clear commitment by the staff member to return to permanent employment at the conclusion of the period of approved parental leave. The firm recognises there will be situations where changed circumstances will prevent this commitment being met and these will be examined on a case-by-case basis.

Payment

The purpose of this payment is to provide the staff member with some financial assistance during their period of absence from the firm. The payment does not affect other parental leave provisions relating to the calculation of items such as annual leave, long service leave, superannuation etc. Payment is at the rate of total remuneration (excluding any bonus, incentive, variable pay or specific salary sacrifice items) applying at the date the parental leave commences for up to 3 months or, at the option of the individual, at half the full rate for up to 6 months. In any event, payments will cease on the first day of return to work.
