In this update

Yesterday, the NSW Government Planning Minister, Frank Sartor, released 3 draft exposure bills outlining important and comprehensive changes to the New South Wales planning and strata management systems.

These Bills chart a number of new and significant reforms, including:

  • a streamlining of the environmental plan-making process
  • establishment of an independent assessment regime for large projects
  • new and different rights in the review of development proposals
  • more stringent rules and new penalties for accredited certifiers
  • a new answerable developer contribution system
  • an extension of individual owners' rights in strata schemes
